What can I do to get more engagement on my blog?
That is something that anyone writing any content at all, and wanting leads, thinks about and works at constantly.
There are some very simple things that you can do, that not everyone does.
You know what it is like: Aw, that is so simple, surely it won’t make any difference.
Well, try the following:
1. Ask for engagement.
Ask for feedback.
Put in sentences like:
- Please can you give a comment.
- What do you think about this?
- What is the greatest problem you are facing right now in your business?
In general, people are more likely to do something if you ask them than if you don’t.
2. Serve others.
A simple mindset shift is to think about how you can serve others.
They are not coming to your page to see how you are today.
They are coming because they want to to see if you are saying anything that will help them.
Will help them either
- make more money,
- help them in their business,
- help them get their mind straight about their business, or
- get their mind straight about their life so that their business will flourish.
So if you can think of that when you are writing, then that is what will come through to them.
I had a friend complaining that she wasn’t getting any engagement. And after we talked about it, she went back and looked through all her blogs, and realised she had spent half of them complaining about things. She went back and deleted some of them. And then started thinking more positively. And it showed in her content.
Now, in our day to day life, especially if you are in the workplace, I am sure you her enough people complain about things. So when you go on line to read someone’s blog, that is not what you are wanting.
People don’t want misery and complaints.
Your resentment or anger comes through, even if it is subtle.
Think about what you would want to read. And if you are not in a good mood, change it before you write!!
3. Have a clear Call to Action
Be totally clear about your Call to Action.
You reader must have no doubt about what you want them to do.
Not, ‘how about you…’
‘Would you like…?’
Clear: ‘click this button’, ‘enter your e-mail address’, ‘leave a comment’,
Be really clear before you write your blog what the objective is, and aim your content towards that.
Clear, simple and powerful call-to-actions work.
Try those 3 of the ways to get more engagement on your blog.
