The definition of content creation essentially is writing your blog.
Do you struggle with creating your content? Many people know they should be writing regularly,
but they just can’t get the ideas.
Here are 7 great tips that will give you a strategy for creating your content.
There are two parts of your blog content.
One is the actual content that the words are covering.
The other is the way you write it, the style you use.
In this post I will talk about tips on where to get ideas for your content, and what to write.
I have another post that will give tips on how to write.
Content creation process
1. First you have to know your market.
I am here particularly talking about internet marketing, and blogging for business.
But the same applies if you are an affiliate for any products, if you are in health and wellness, fitness,
or whatever other niche you are wanting to promote. What is your marketing channel?
Who are you targeting, and what are their problems that you can help them with?
Your blog is the hub of your business.
So your blog is then for people who are in the same business as you, to give them information that will be relevant to their business.
Or to their life, which will then impact on their business.
You need to think like them.
2. What are their problems that you can help with?
You need to think what information you would like, or what you would have liked if you were starting off.
Some of the most valuable content I have heard or read has been from people who say:
This happened to me, and I don’t want it to happen to you.
3. Then get your ideas
So, here are some ideas for content:
1. Any training you have done yourself.
If you have just learned something, and there was training out there, then the person who did the training knew there was a need for it, and you needed it. So there will be someone else out there who needs it too.
Put it in a way that you understand, and put it out there for your readers. This can be point form a video you have watched, from a blog you have read, or from a training call you have had.
2.Ask your e-mail list what their biggest problem is.
Then do a post replying to the problem. you may be surprised at how simple people’s problems are to you, and how helpful you can be to them, just by sharing how you dealt with something.
3. Any books you have read.
- If you are keen on your personal development you will be reading regularly. Write about a point that you picked up in your reading. Summarise a chapter.
- Review the whole book.
- Do a video talking about the book. Videos are quick, easy and very effective. Over 60% of people are visual learners, and respond to video more than to text. Our attention span is now less than that of a goldfish, according to a microsoft study and a three minute video can have a great impact on people, sometimes more that a 100 word blog post.
4. Any company event you go to.
Now this ties in with no.1 and your training. All the notes that you take you should be considering what of those you can turn into blog posts. One session could give you at least two or three posts of very valuable content.
5. What you do on a daily basis.
Someone new to the business will welcome your action lists and your to do list on things that you may think are so basic they are not worth talking about.
But there was a stage when you didn’t know those things, various marketing tips, paid advertising strategies, anything, and there will be someone out there who doesn’t know it either. Until you tell them! And then they will get such value from your tips that they will come back to see what else you have.
6. Other peoples’ blogs.
Particularly the leaders in various areas. Read their blogs. Sometimes the information may be too detailed for the audience you are trying to reach. So change it. Make it yours.
7. Other people’s social media sites.
Have a look at what they are talking about. What questions they are asking.
Answer them yourself on your blog.
8. Quora and other fora. (or forums!)
This is a great strategy for when you are really stuck. Have a look at what questions people are asking about your market.
You will find a lot of different ideas that maybe you would never have thought of.
9. And if you are really totally and utterly stuck, and ready to do …. whatever.
Go and do some vigorous exercise, or go outside, or go and clean the bathroom, or go and talk to someone, or play with the cat… As soon as you loosen that energy, the ideas will come.
Just because other people have written about something doesn’t mean you should not.
You will have your own particular style that will appeal to some people, maybe not to others. Don’t worry.
Using this process you will attract people to you who are interested in what you have to say, and who want to stay and follow you.
With time, they may want to join your team. If they do, that is great. Because they are the ones you want on your team: they think inthe same way as you. You will work well together.
But, enjoy writing your blog.
Don’t see it as a chore that you need to get through.
Just remember those you are are helping. Even if it is only one person who gets value from what you have written.
Is that not worth it?
