You know what you are going to write in your blog.
You know what the content is going to be.
But how are you going to write it? What is the best style to get the best engagement?
Because after all, that is what you are wanting.
People to read your blog and be interested, and want more.
There is a general strategy of

A blog is part of your marketing strategy, and you want it to reflect you and your business.
Remember back in English class?
everything has a beginning and a middle and an end.
Go for it!
- grab the reader’s attention.
- engage them with a question
- let them know what they are going to read about
the body of the blog.
This can either
- tell the story
- give the information
- describe the points of a how to post
- be a video: which in itself will have the same structure.
Here is where you summarise what you have said: it may be only one sentence is required.
And this also is where you put the call to action.
It is very important to actually state what you want people to do, or they may not do it!
You are wanting to be chatty.
This is not the place for very formal business type language.
Use ‘you’ and ‘I’, and a conversational style.
Stay polite though! No need for swearing or expletives.
It doesn’t do you any favours if you are well known, let alone increase your following if you are still trying to attract a following.
And stay positive.
Keep it simple.
Try this to see how readable your text is.
Just put your website URL into the search bar.
You should be aiming for US grade 6-7.
Most easily read content is generally a grade 6 level.
Forbes is grade 7. Medical journal articles are grade 11.
Don’t use complicated language.
Get to the point. Don’t waffle!
You want to give information, and a bit of chat, but no fluff!
In order for your blog to be easy to read,
you need headings and subheadings.
A lot of people just skim articles, and headings should give them the general gist of the content.
Paragraphs should be short, maximum 5-6 lines.
You need emphasis in the form of bold, italics and underlining.
And you can use different font sizes and fonts: but try not to use too many, as it just gets distracting.
Keep away from dense chunks of text.
Use images to break up the writing.
You want your layout to flow, along with your content.
Right to the end.
So that your reader is then satisfied that their question at the beginning was answered,
and they are now able to do something , or they now know something they didn’t know before.
So there are your top tips for how to produce your content.
And I hope you now know something you didn’t know before!
Or at least will think about this when you write your post.
